i agree with you on the weather as i came across a butterfly this week in steventon. If we do get bad weather like snow or very cold frost then insects like bees and wasps will not live long and will be down in numbers in the summer. People may think this is good news but it does have a knock on affect with flowers , crops and other insects as wasps hunt these as well. If the wasps and bees do get past the cold weather then they would strugle as the frosts and late snow falls could kill of there flowers so which ever way you look at it they are going to have to fight for there lives

Hi Barry, Thanks for the comment - most of this is common sense but not always obvious unless you know - I heard we are never 3 metres from a rat...but perhaps thats just Newbury!

Great post Graham, and wise words. Readers take note, these are great tips and really easy to do. They say we're never more than 10 metres from a rat! Grahams advice will help discourage them from taking up residence at your place.
Kind regards
Barry Simmpson

Hi Chris, Great question - I would definitely say rats. The reason is that at least moles tend to work the same tunnels and stick to them, where as rats are tricky to deal with being so clever, and pose a significant health issue too. They soon work things out so as pest controllers we have to be one or two steps ahead. It's not just about putting a bit of poison down (as you well know) you have to have a strategy and change tack as required to deal with the problem. Moles also can be tricky, but with gas and a good trapping regime, it can soon be sorted.

By the way, like your website - www.sussexeps.co.uk - If I get a call down in your part of the world I will send them to you.
